Our story

Huipile was born from memories long before it became a brand. Growing up in Mexico, Selene was surrounded by the beauty of handwoven textiles through her mother, who not only wore them with elegance, but deeply valued the artistry, culture, and human stories behind every piece. Traveling alongside her, Selene learned to appreciate craftsmanship not simply as fashion, but as a living expression of identity, heritage, and tradition.

Over time, that admiration evolved into a deeper journey. While traveling through different countries and artisan communities, she discovered that the language of craftsmanship transcends borders. From the backstrap looms of Mexico to the ikat workshops of Uzbekistan and the artisan ateliers of Turkey, she found cultures connected by the same devotion to handmade artistry, ancestral techniques, and generations of knowledge passed from hand to hand.

Huipile was created to honor those traditions, bringing together handwoven textiles and artisanal craftsmanship from around the world into timeless pieces designed to preserve their cultural soul while giving them new life in the modern world.
